Asel was born on the Fourth of July 1930, to his parents Furman and Irma (Streater) Greer in Normangee, TX. Asel was a high school graduate and worked as a civil engineer until he retired. Asel loved to hunt and fish. Most often you could find him in his garden growing his famous watermelons along with the help of his children and grandchildren. Another past time he enjoyed was holding meetings at the house of knowledge, telling jokes and tall tales.
Above all else though, spending time with his family, enjoying his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren took precedence over anything else. He had a love of his family like no other, they were truly his joy in life.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents Furman and Irma Greer; a sister Virginia Martin; and three brothers Rex Greer, Streater Greer, and Furman Greer Jr.
Asel is survived by his loving wife Mary Greer; a son Jimmy Greer; two daughters, Peggy Webster and husband Mark, and Janie Heath and husband Calvin; five grandchildren, Heather Barnett, Jonathan Webster, Kacey Sams, Janine Webster, and Jarrett Greer; three great grandchildren, Hayden Barnett, Drake Sams and Dalton Sams; two brothers Billie Jack Sonny Greer and wife Billie Lou, Gene Greer and wife Naomi; a sister Ann Smith and husband Buster; and two sister-in-laws Evlyn Greer and Nelda Greer.
