Billy "Sonny" Greer passed away at his Rosenberg home surrounded by family on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Billy Jack "Sonny" Greer of Rosenberg,Texas, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, at the age of 85. Born October 16, 1940, to Furman and Irma Streater Greer, he grew up on the Greer Ranch in Leon County, Texas.

The youngest of 8 siblings, he attended Normangee High School and played football for the Panthers. After graduating from Sam Houston State University, he married Billie Lou Lagravier and went to work in the oil and directional drilling industries, primarily for Atwood Oceanics and Berco.

He and Billie Lou shared 61 beautiful years of marriage. He loved hunting, watching football, working at the ranch, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Furman and Irma Streater Greer, and six of his siblings, Rex, Virginia, Furman Jr. (Skeezix), Asel, Streater, and Gene.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Lou, their 3 children Jeff (Elsa), Stacey (Arthur), and Blake (Rebecca), six grandchildren, Greer and Ellie Kiessling, Joey and Kellan Greer and Molly and Zane Greer, and his sister Ann Smith (Buster), in laws Mary and Naomi Greer and John and Cathy Lagravier, and a special great-nephew, Jarrett Greer. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and Arthur and Amy Langham and their son Sebastian, family in every way that matters.

The family would also like to thank Sonny's niece, Jeri Lynn Lagravier Diserens, for her loving kindness, guidance, and help during his last days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Greer Cemetery Association.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Hilltop Lakes Community Center in Hilltop Lakes, TX.
