Syble Marie Batson, 91, of Normangee passed away Saturday, July 12, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be held Monday, July 14, at Cozart Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, at the First Baptist Church Normangee at 10 am. Bro. Kip Riley will preside over services. Burial will follow at the Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee.
Syble Marie Denman was born September 20, 1922 to her parents Owen and Ava (Baugh) Denman in Iola, TX. She was married to Edward Leo Batson. They moved to Normangee in 1961 and she opened the Dairy King for the children of Normangee, she ran it for over twelve years. She was always taking care of her cows. Syble ran the bookkeeping for her husbands business and was a member of the First Baptist Church Normangee since the 70s. She always loved flowers growing them and receiving them for any special occasion. Syble was a caring person and she loved her good old dog Nick.
Syble was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, Edward Leo Batson; a son, Johnny Bubba Harris; two daughters, Phyllis Harris and Bonnie Hayes; a granddaughter, Kylee Harris; and four sisters, Docie Willis, Florence Taylor, Gladys Williams, and Nina Patty.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Sturgeon and wife Melissa; two daughters, Linda Nickerson and husband Ronnie, and Janie Nixon and husband Michael; a brother, Joe Denman; and 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
