T. J. Mitchell passed away at home with his family by his side on Monday evening, September 24th 2012.
He was born on January 31st, 1927 in Whitehall, Texas to the late Effie and A. J. Mitchell. He graduated from Alvin High School and attended the University of Houston before serving in WW II in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Hilltop Lakes Chapel.
He is preceded in death by his six siblings and his first wife, Emily Kannon Mitchell. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan, his daughter Gayle Mitchell Bellomy, his son Andy Mitchell and their spouses and children. He is also survived by his step children, Mark Rigby and Lee Ann Rigby Solberg, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at the Hilltop Lakes Chapel, Hilltop Lakes, Texas on Thursday, September 27th at 11:00 AM.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas and the Texas Home Health Hospice for their care, kindness and compassion.
T.J. met no strangers, tackled any problem with brilliance, danced a Jitterbug effortlessly, sang in his beautiful tenor voice, and loved his family immensely. He will be sorely missed.
