Velma passed away at the age of 83 on July 13th with her daughter at her side.

She was born on March 17, 1943 to Ernest and Evie Malkey in Caldwell, Texas.

Velma fell in love and married Billy (Pete) Burns on December 22, 1957 and had one daughter, Polly Jean Burns. Billy (Pete) passed away in 1984 and Velma met the next love of her life, Jim Morales, and married on November 11, 1989. Velma and Jim had shared 36 wonderful years together.

Velma has four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was informed just days before passing that her granddaughter would be giving her another great grandbaby soon.

She is loved and survived by her husband Jim Morales, her daughter Polly Hannon and husband Larry, her brother Ernest Lee Malkey, grandchildren Chet Hannon and wife Karina, Caitlin Hannon and Hunter Steele, Devin Hannon and Hallie Morgan, great grandchildren J.B Cook, Lexi Cook, Hazynn Hannon, Reinlynn Hannon, and Blazynn Hannon.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Evie Malkey. Her first husband, Billy (Pete) Burns, sisters Jewel Kennedy, Josephine Nichols, Dixie Warren, Bernice Stacey, and Laura Bee Perry. Brother Floyd Malkey, grandson Dustin Hannon, and great grandson Bailin Hannon.

Pallbearers include Larry Hannon, Chet Hannon, Devin Hannon, J.B Cook, Brandon Malkey, and Hunter Steele.

Graveside service is set to take place on Friday, July 17th, 2026 at 11:00 am at Wealthy Cemetery in Normangee, Texas with Mr. Kerry Stroud officiating.
