On March 2, 2026, our dear Walter Lee Parker Sr. went home to be with Jesus. We know that he is singing in the heavenly choir and probably trying to lead them in "I'll Fly Away".
Walter was born on March 22, 1932, in Houston, Texas to George Abel and Bessie Mae Parker.
Walter grew up in Houston with his elder brother George. At the age of 15 he met the love of his life, Fern Eloise Walker and at the age of 17, he asked her to marry him. Not long after, they added 7 children which has now grown to 14 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Walter had a career as a music minister in and around Houston for 25 years and worked for another 25 years when they moved to Hilltop Lakes. Walter was an ordained deacon, a member of the Mason's, and a member of the Lion's Club.
Walter and Fern were well-seasoned travelers and they have the pictures to prove it.
Walter is survived by his wife of 76 years, Fern Parker, his children, daughter Jan Walker and husband Art, daughter-in-law Theresa Parker, daughter Cynthia Nagy and husband Steve, son Bill Parker and wife Pat, daughter Sandra Parker Jacobs, son Bruce Parker and wife Kathy, and daughter-in-law Cindy Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, son Paul Ray, son Walter Parker Jr, and son Brian Parker.
